So I had lunch today with Brian Amandus, the Matchframe sales rep for Suspension at the Smokehouse in Burbank.
Besides having a fantastic conversation about life and the state of post-production I was really taken with the restaurant. It’s one of the many Los Angeles spots that has been around forever and not changed a lick. Some others along the same line are Taix and Musso And Frank’s Grill. I’m sure every major American cities has it’s fair share of these places. As any good Angeleno knows, LA despises things over 1 decade old. So for any of these restaurant to be around, let alone unmolested since opening nigh on 100 years ago in some cases is a boner fide miracle. Their preservation surely has something to do with the fact that they were all old Hollywood haunts, and excellent spots to make a deal through the ages. As far as I’m concerned the why don’t matter, it’s just the is of it.
My love is also compounded by the fact that they all have kick ass bars, staffed by truly good bartenders. Sounds like time for an old fashioned and a steak sandwich, eh Dom?
First time I’ve heard you take the side of the unmolested.
